Why Your Business Should Invest in an Event Recap Video

Whether you’re hosting a corporate conference, sponsoring a brand event, attending a trade show, or celebrating a company milestone, your event represents a significant investment of time, money, and planning. But once the event ends, the opportunity to continue generating value is just beginning.

A professionally produced event recap video allows your business to extend the life of your event, increase brand awareness, and create content that can be used across multiple marketing channels long after the last guest leaves.

How to Create an Engaging Recap Video That People Actually Watch

Every business wants their event video to have tons of engagement, or even better yet, to go VIRAL online. Our latest event recap video created by our video production team generated over 1.2 million views on Instagram, with over 50K likes, 180 comments, and 300 shares.

Check out the viral recap video we created for Halara.

Here are some tips on maximizing engagement for your event recap video

  • Be clear on the usage of the final video
    • The platform that the video will be hosted on will ultimately determine the format of the video. Since we knew the video was mainly for Instagram, we filmed with vertical in mind and made the final video no longer than 30 seconds.
  • Look at viral reference videos for inspiration
    • In order to communicate with the client on what the final video might look like, we shared reference videos from similar brands to establish the style and tone of our event recap video
  • Stage shots when possible
    • Often times, amateur videographers film events very passively. They film only the things that happen. While our video production team makes sure to capture all the natural, organic moments, in order to film something magical or next-level, we often times have to direct a scene. In our vial example, we staged the talent during the photoshoot moments to give us some fun poses that work for video, and we specifically directed the talent to give us an ending for the video (ending the performance by covering the camera with the pom poms). These are the kind of moments that wouldn’t have happened unless we asked for it.
  • Make the video work with and without sound
    • On social media platforms like Instagram, people are often just scrolling without the volume on. To account for that, we made sure the final video was visually engaging even without sound, but if the viewer decides to turn on sound, the experience is even better with timed music, sound effects, and inspiring dialogue from the host.
  • Start the video with a hook
    • Traditionally, we’re taught to begin event videos with an establishing shot. However, to optimize on virality, we instead started our video with stylish shots of the key speaker to hook in viewers that are casually scrolling. Combine that with some flashy transitions, and you get an event recap video that’s easily clickable, rewatchable, and sharable.
  • Make the video a collaboration
    • A lot of vendors and support help make your event a success. When you collab or tag your vendors in your post, your event recap video can also show up on their page. Our example video was a brand collaboration between Halara and Reece Weaver, an influencer known for being a Cheerleader for the Dallas Cowboys. By making the video a collaboration, you can the leverage the audience of your vendors to reach more people.

Make Your Next Event Last Longer Than a Day

Your event deserves more than a few smartphone photos that disappear after a week.

A professionally produced event recap video transforms a single day into a long-term marketing asset that can generate engagement, build credibility, and help promote future events for months—or even years.
